MORE THAN 1100 PARTICIPANTS AND IN COOPERATION WITH THE VISUAL ART CENTER: AMAN CENTER HONORS THE WINNERS OF THE BEST AMAN CHILD DRAWING COMPETIT

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), affiliated to the Qatar Social Work Foundation,    announced the names of the winners of the best artwork in drawing competition entitled "Childhood is a Trust" launched by the Center last February in conjunction with the celebration of Gulf Child Day, in order to raise awareness of the importance of childhood in the family and society, and promote the culture of social peace by encouraging individuals to draw their creations that mimic the theme of childhood.

The competition, which included school students and professionals, witnessed a great competition among more than 1100 participants. The competition was organized in cooperation with the Visual Art Center, one of the institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, where the Center received the work of the participants and formed a referee committee according to the criteria announced before the registration which included the artist Salman Al-Malik, director of the Visual Art Center and the Chairman of the referee committee, artist Wissam Ibrahim Radwan, and artist Ibrahim Hussein.

Salman Al Malik, Director of the Visual Art Center, and Abdulaziz Al Ishaq, Director of Awareness Department at Aman Center, honored the winners as Maryam Ahmed Al-Asiri was awarded the first place in the professional competition and received a certificate of appreciation and ten thousand riyals, and won the second place Mohammed Al-Ameen Bakhti and received a certificate of appreciation and seven thousand riyals, and won the third place Aisha Al Yafei and received a certificate of appreciation and five thousand riyals. While in the student competition the first place winner received a certificate of appreciation and five thousand riyals, the second winner received a certificate of appreciation and three thousand riyals, and the third winner received a certificate of appreciation and two thousand riyals, and the forth winner received a certificate of appreciation and one thousand riyals.  In the high school Hadeel Osama was the winner of the first place, second place was awarded by Ahd  Nayef Al-Shammari, and in the third place was Aisha Adil. In the preparatory stage, Hagar Ateeq won the first place, second was Abdullah Buiukhan and third was Dana Dalloul. In the primary stage, Haifa Al Yafei won the first place, second was Omar Al Kanani, third was Maya Mazen, A number of encouraging prizes were awarded to the winners in the fourth to tenth place. Each participant received a certificate of appreciation and thanked for participating.

Mansour Al-Saadi: “childhood is a Trust" is an international slogan that we are keen to adopt

Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director of  Aman Center, said that " Childhood is a Trust" is a major aim that AMAN is keen to adopt in line with the international conventions ratified by the State of Qatar, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

He added that "Aman Center has been interested in providing various means to achieve protection, such as the launch of hotline 919, and the opening of a number of branches in hospitals and public prosecution, also the launch of “Sa3edny" application, which aims to protect children to report the abuse they may be subjected to. As well as launching child-friendly games such as Senyar 1 and Senyar 2, is the first Qatari nonviolent game, providing a suitable alternative for children to violent electronic games. The center also offers many rehabilitation services aims at protection against violence.

He pointed out that Aman Center will re-publish these artworks in campaigns and awareness activities. The competition aimed at freeing artistic and creative expression of the participants in order to collect the largest number of drawings on this subject, and to allow many people as possible to participate whether professional or students.

Salman Al Malik:  We are delighted to cooperate with the Visual Art Center and Aman Center

“We are delighted to participate in this important competition," said Salman Al Malik, Director of the Visual Art Center and Chairman of the referee committee.

He also said that "We did not expect such a large number of participants, which was more than1100 participants, reflecting the interest in participation. He stressed that such constructive competitions achieve knowledge and awareness in an attractive creative way inspired by the energies, talents and abilities of creative individuals as drawing can reflect the individual's feelings.  One drawing can sum up a big topic in an attractive way, confirming the true value of the artwork. He added that the committee has set specific agreed criteria for arbitration to ensure fairness and transparency among all participants for the privilege of participation and win.

 

Maha Al Mannai: The Competition is a continuation of an ambitious plan for Aman competitions.

 

Ms. Maha Al Mannai, Head of Technical Production Department at Aman center said that “the competition is a continuation of an ambitious plan for Aman competitions in the coming period through artistic and creative competitions aims at raising awareness of the Center's field of work, especially that the success of the drawing competition and before it the photo competition prompts us to organize more competitions in several fields targeting children and women. She added that some participants did not have enough information about Aman center but the competition has contributed in increasing knowledge and awareness of our field of work and this is one of the qualitative advantages of such competitions.

 

Wissam Radwan: we expect many participations and distinctive creations.

The artist Wissam Radwan, member of the referee committee said that "I participated as a member of a referee committee in many competitions but this competition is distinguished by its importance stemming from the theme of “childhood is a Trust", so it has succeeded in attracting many participations and distinctive creations, and I am expecting great success for the participants if they develop this hobby in the future especially as I was surprised at the honoring ceremony by the young age of a number of participants, indicating the presence of talent, hence the importance of these competitions in stimulating individuals to participate and launch their creative  distinguished talents.

 

Ibrahim Hussein: Aman Center now has a wide range of creative works.

The artist Ibrahim Hussein, member of the referee committee said to the participants that they should continue in developing their talents and abilities, stressing that the participating works confirm awareness of the subject of the competition and reflect the innovative development in the skills and abilities of participants.  On the other hand, he added that Aman Center has a variety of creative work that can be employed in various fields in a persuasive and creative way.

The Visual Art Center organizes an exhibition of the winning works in Katara, which will continue for a week to allow the general public to see the creations of the participants as well as the publication of a printed booklet of these works. The winning owners will be available to answer any questions or discuss their creations.

 

Statements by participants:

First place winner: I did not expect to win the first prize.

The participants expressed their happiness to participate and win, especially as the subject of participation was a challenge to them both in the idea of drawing and the method of implementation, where they look to see their work in the publications and technical launches of the center.

“I honestly did not expect to win the first prize and I am very happy not only to win but because I have contributed by my work in spreading awareness of a very important subject, especially since the expression of the idea came just as I felt it," said Maryam Ahmed Al Asiri

She added that winning is an honor which will prompt me to follow up on the Center's activities and volunteer to participate in its activities and services.

 

Second place winner: I felt professional artists would win all the prizes

Mohammed Amin Bakhti, the second-place winner of the professionals said that"  It was a great honor for me to win the prize, especially since I did not expect to win because the competition was open to all professionals and amateurs, and  I felt that the professional artists would win all the prizes. He added I would like to thank the administration of the prize, Aman Center and the Visual Art Center.

 He also said that “I would like to present this award to my family and I hope that the work that I participated in will contribute to raise awareness of the idea and subject of the competition.

 

The winner of the third place: I participated in the last moments

Aisha Al Yafei, the winner of the third place, said “ I participated in the last moments before closing the door of participation, and I had ideas for many drawings in this subject, and I actually drew several paintings and then participated in the best of them from my point of view, and that the win prompted me to complete a series of drawings because the subject attracted me and I feel that spreading awareness in this way is more capable than traditional means of attracting the audience to know the center's work".

 

The winner of the first place of the high school students: the idea of the competition prompted me to participate.

Hadeel Osama, the first winner of the high school students, said: "The idea of the competition prompted me to participate in it especially since its title is" childhood is a Trust". The challenge was to find a beautiful drawing with a meaning related to childhood and full of many expressed meanings. And I felt a special challenge and tried many ideas until I was drawn to the work that I participated in, and I am very happy because the challenge raised by the competition in my imagination did not only come out of the light and even won a prize which I cherish a lot especially since it came from a specialized committee of Aman Center and Visual Art Center"
